 Balfron High School Trust

The Balfron High School Trust is now fully operational.

The Trust is a company limited by guarantee and with charitable status.

The broad aim of the Trust is to enhance the educational, cultural, social and sporting experiences of young people who attend Balfron High School and to promote equality and diversity and to overcome disadvantage consistent with the aims of the school.  It should be emphasised that this is not a substitute for core activities or core staffing.  The School continues to receive sufficient funds for this purpose.  However,  the funding we receive is limited and sometimes prevents activities or events that are seen as ‘extra'; or buying items which enhance experiences.

There is a Board of Directors who will administer the Trust.  There are two teachers, Mr MacQuarrie and Mrs Shaw; three parents, Mrs Skabara, Ms Blackmore and Mrs Merrick and two members of the community, Mr Bisset and Mr McPherson and Mrs Corry is the Chair.  Pupil representatives will also be part of the Board.

The purpose of the Trust is to respond to requests for funding to support activities and projects that will enhance the provision for young people in the school.

The range of projects/events/bids that will be considered for funding are likely to be varied: subsidising young people who are unable to attend events that are planned for all because of hardship; buying strips and subsidising transport for school teams; subsidising transport for field trips and other excursions; supporting visiting ‘experts' - artists / musicians / scientists/ creative writing; supporting activities such as film making, school show and other productions; supporting events that enhance the curriculum e.g. Zoo Lab, Art Bus, buying specialist equipment that would enhance learning etc.  The application form for bids will be available from any of the Directors.  Having set up the Trust, the next phase will be to raise money.   There is already a modest amount of money in the Trust, kindly donated by supporters of the school.  The aim is to build up a large enough fund that the Trust is sustainable into the future.  The more money we have the more we can give to support the enhancement of experiences.

There is now an embryonic group who will be looking at a marketing strategy.

It is proposed to officially launch the Trust in October (Provisionally 28th

The Memorandum and Articles of the Association of the Balfron High School Trust are available for anyone to see by asking at the school reception.
